| Unique Design |

Hydropads force
(or draw) air into the converging gaps created by the carbon seal nose and the Shallow Hydropads on the mating ring.
This results in increased pressure and
thus hydrodynamic lift.
|
| Non-Contacting |
|
The hydrodynamic
lift created by the Shallow Hydropads, helps create and maintain a
lubricating film (cushion of air) that the seal face rides on.
Operating on this lubricating film greatly reduces heat
generation and extends seal life.
|
| Virtually
Zero Leakage |
|
The air drawn
into the Shallow Hydropads acts as a high pressure “air barrier”
that reduces leakage
across the sealing interface to virtually zero.
Air pumped from the Shallow
Hydropads into the oil cavity is negligible.
|
| Reduced Heat
Generation |
|
The seal
operates in a non-contacting mode, reducing heat generation by as much
as 80%-90% over that
of conventional seal designs. This
typically equates to a 100°F-
200°F
drop in seal operating temperature.
|
| Extended Seal
Life |
|
The
non-contacting mode results in very low wear that drastically
increases seal life. Up
to 30,000 hours of seal life is feasible.
|
| Fits Existing
Envelopes |
|
The Shallow
Hydropad seals require no more space than that of a standard
contacting face seal.
The Shallow Hydropads can generally be positioned on the
existing mating ring
configuration without any modification.
|
| No Support
System |
|
The Shallow
Hydropads eliminate the need for buffer support systems and costly oil
jet cooling. |
